System Ops: Energy Storage So Simple It Just Might Work
I just learned about this today, PG&E was writing about this more than two years ago: PG&E Currents
ARES energy storage technology employs a fleet of electric traction drive shuttle-trains, operating on a closed low-friction automated steel rail network to transport a field of heavy masses between two storage yards at different elevations.
No emissions
No fossil fuels used
Water not required
No hazardous waste created
No harmful extraction of materials
Clean decommissioning process with no lasting impacts to the natural environment.

Found Coolness: The Stair Car Makes A Cameo
You're going to get some hop-ons...
"Yes, the stair car from Arrested Development is apparently in the movie, appearing (fittingly) in the background of its big airport fight scene. You can’t see the Bluth Company’s actual logo in the movie, but the paint job on the personal stairway vehicle is pretty clear."

Found Coolness: More Words From Zach Bowman
Bowman's Odyssey: Where Winter Never Ends
"We wander outside of town. Find a secluded forest road and set up camp next to a wall of red rock, read the lessons of the millennia written there. It’s quiet enough to hear the wind washing at the stone, doing the patient work that’s shaped this place. It’s tempting to see these hills as permanent. Fixed points in the wash of the world, but the truth is sweeter. They churn like the rest of us. The sights we’re seeing are a flash. That we’re fortunate to be where we are, when we are."~Zach Bowman
I mentioned Zach's writing in a previous post and am sharing another post for you to click through on because 30 posts in it still stands up. Follow along on his adventure and enjoy!

I found this on my Facebook "on this day" feed. I originally shared it 4 years ago and the story is still moving so I figured I'd share it again on here.
